Description: Image held at Richmond Library. The photograph, originally published in 'The Herald and Weekly Times', shows a crowded tram carriage headed for a football match. Information housed with the image reads: 'Going to Melbourne Football Ground by tram 1900-1919. The first cable tram service in Melbourne ran from Spencer St along Bridge Rd Richmond to Hawthorn Bridge starting 1885'. The caption beneath the photograph reads 'Off to the Essendon v. South Melbourne match. Saturday's Football: Essendon v. South Melbourne, at East Melbourne, and Fitzroy v. St Kilda, at Fitzroy'.
