Squizzy Taylor's house, 18 Darlington Pde, Richmond

1920s? Squizzy Taylor's house, 18 Darlington Pde, Richmond

Description: Image held at Richmond library. According to Hugh Anderson's book 'Larrikin crook' (Milton, Qld. : Jacaranda, 1971) this photograph shows number 18 Darlington Pde. Leslie 'Squizzy' Taylor, a famous Melbourne gangster of the 1920s, allegedly lived here from about 1925 until his death in 1927. Unfortunately this isn't corroborated by the postal directories of the day - there is no reference to a Taylor at that address in those years. The picture shows a pair early twentieth-century brick cottages, no longer extant.
