Description: B & W photograph of an engraving, 21 x 26.5cm. This new Brighton Free Library, located at 104 Bay Street, was officially opened on 7 May 1887 by George Higinbotham, then Chief Justice of Victoria. Named Higinbotham Hall, the library became the council owned Brighton Municipal Library in 1910, and eventually moved to the former Brighton Town Hall in June 1978.
