Description: 3 Sepia photographs 201/4 x 121/2 copied from the original wetplate photograph of c1860. George Higinbotham(1826-1892) was editor of the Argus 1856-1859. In 1861 he held the Brighton seat in the legislative assembly and was attorney general 1863-68. 1880 he was supreme court judge and became Chief justice of Vic in 1880. He was a benefactor of the Brighton mechanics institute(later library) and lived at 'Warrain' in Brighton.
