Description: Information from Sika Kerry 21/4/2001 The main Library in Buckley Street had received a large number of foreign language books funded by Commonwealth Government Grants. Ruth Andrews, the librarian, discussed this with Sika Kerry who went to a citizen who had a vacant shop in Anderson Street. He allowed the use of this shop to the city, as a library, for one year, after which the city acquired other premises. This branch library had a large holding of foreign language books along with the usual holdings. It attracted a large number of citizens, mainly due to the work of the librarian who regularly visited the local schools. Sika Kerry is second from the left and the man first on the left is Luke Cuni who spoke twelve languages and was, sometime later, killed by a disgruntled participant in a court case where Luke was acting as an interpreter.
