Description: Photograph Sugarloaf Waterworks School No. 3931. started in a leased hall in May 1916 with 61 pupils under the headteacher John W. Smith. By 1923 it was renamed Eildon Weir State School and in 1924 a new structure was built containing 2 rooms and a cloakroom. By 1931 there were increased numbers and the hall had to be leased again. In 1932 the ANA prize for school ground improvements was awarded to SS3931 under the headteacher H.T. Jobling. Fluctuating attendances and staffing problems caused the school to close for a few months in 1942. With the building of the second wall of the weir numbers enrolled increased and in 1951the school was moved to a new site. 10 rooms and staff room were purchased by the Education Department in 1952. In 1959 the school was renamed Eildon State School. In 1969 with Henshaw as the headteacher the ANA prize was again awarded to the school. Sugarloaf Waterworks School. Eildon Weir State School and Eildon State School are the previous names of Eildon Primary School. Eildon (Vic.) -- History. Education Dept.
