Description: Como was the homestead of a cattle station, in the early days owned by a company, one of whom was Gardiner. It was so named by Judge Williams, who built part of the present house. In 1853 it was purchased by a Mr. Brown, the next owner being Mr. Charles Henry Armytage, who in time built a wing to include a ball-room, billiard room, with bedrooms over them. The estate consisted of 100 acres and ran from Toorak Road, down Williams Road (so called after first Judge Williams) to the centre of the River Yarra. Pictured, the mansion, surrounded by immaculate lawns and shrubs
