Description: The crown grant for the land on which Yarravale later was built was given in 1844. Both land and house were purchased by Mrs. Rachel Sawyers in 1854, and remained in the family until 1917 when it was sold. Pictured, house in background surrounded by gum trees, white paling fence and gate, and in the foreground, one adult female and three children standing in vacant land.
