Description: In Novermber 1874, Mr. McBain, M.L.A., purchased one acre of the Toorak Estate, and offered the site to the Church Committee, its location on Toorak Road, opposite Irving Road. Building commenced in 1875, and the foundation stone was laid by the Hon. William Bayles, M.L.A., on 24 May 1875. It was resolved to call the Church The Toorak Presbyterian Church, and its first minister was the Rev. Murdoch Macdonald, a highlander. Detailed notes accompany this photo (pp 75-77).
