Description: The Hon. James Cassell (1804-1853) purchased from R.A. Balbirnie that section bounded by Williams Road to the east, Cromwell Road to the west, Malvern Road to the south and Toorak Road to the north, in all a total of eighty-six acres. Hawksburn House was built on the property in the vicinity of where the Hawksburn Railway Station is situated.
