Description: Black and white photoprint of the well-known emporium, the Colosseum. The building was badly damaged by fire in 1914, and subsequently rebuilt. A good account of the history of the business may be found in Betty Malone's 'Chapel Street Prahran, part 1' pp 25-6. No mention there is made of Jacob Read, who figures in the 1906 Jubilee text as the founder of the firm. Treadway is an important name linked to the business.
