Description: Black and white laser copy of a photo of Mary Mow selling beans at Prahran Market. Mary is the daughter of Mr Daniel Wong Mow, a Canonese dentist who migrated to Melbourne and practised in Lonsdale Street. Prahran Council is said to have asked him in the early 1890s to encourage Chinese friends to set up produce stalls at Prahran Market. Daniel married an Australian woman and had 8 children - 4 boys and 4 girls. The Mow market stall in 1998 is a third generation stall, run by his daughter's nephew, specialising in potatoes.
