The centre, which was set up in 1977, provides care for children between 6 weeks to 6 years of age. The entry in the 2002 community directory stated that occasional care is ideal for families who: need immediate childcare; have recently located to the area; have obtained seasonal work, or have business appointments not suitable for children to attend. Care is available for a minimum of ½ hour or a maximum of 9 hours per day (8.30 am - 5.30 pm). The building was originally a Salvation Army Citadel.
