Description: Black and white postcard of Blackburn Lake entitled 'Lake, Deaf Mutes' Farm, Blackburn' In 1908 the Adult Deaf Society purchased 70 acres of land including the lake and much of the land was used as a flower farm. The Adult Deaf Society continued to operate the refreshment room (built by the Freehold Investment and Banking Company in 1889) and the jetty where row boats could be hired until 1915. It was a popular place for picnics. The photo is of boats on the lake and is mounted on white board. Two extra copies in pocket of album. (12.5 cm x 8 cm)
