1900? - 1920? Councillors cricket match

Description: Size: 152 x 213 mm A group of thirty-two men posed around cricket stumps at what looks like the Fitzroy Oval. Perhaps a match between Fitzroy and Collingwood councillors? Two young men are clean-shaven but the rest have moustaches and in many cases beards, including one elderly chap with a very flowing white beard. Little concession has been made to comfort: although some have removed their jackets, everybody but one wears a collar and tie, waistcoat and hat. The man at the front wears a striped jacket and several have light summer hats. In the front row one man writes in a notebook (recording the score?) and another holds a newspaper. Several are wearing cricket pads. In the background are two grandstands, one with a clock and flagpole and both decorated with cast iron lace panels.
