Description: Size: 194 x 141 mm In the foreground is the intersection of Hoddle Street with Gipps Street and there is a good view of the buildings on the west side of Hoddle Street from here up to Langridge Street, none of which were to survive the demolitions of the 1970s for the widening of Hoddle Street. On the corner of Hoddle and Gipps is the Royal George Hotel, and the two-storeyed verandahed building a few doors up is a bakery. The grocer's on the corner of Hoddle and Langridge streets has an advertisement for Velvet soap painted on its side wall. Beyond this is a general vista of houses, shops, churches and factories as far as Victoria Parade.
