1980s Verandahed building in Abbotsford Street

Description: Size: 132 x 89 mm This is believed to be the last original post supported verandah built over a footpath in Collingwood and retains the decorative boards on the side, still quite commonly seen in Victorian country towns but rare in Melbourne. This type of shop verandah, so typical of the streetscape of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, fell out of favour at one stage and council prohibited their erection.
