Description: Size: 160 x 202 mm A view taken from high ground in Studley Park with river red gums and the Yarra in the foreground. Four houses can be seen on the north side of St. Helier's Street (one obscured by foliage) as well as some sheds. On the other side of the street are a number of buildings making up the Convent of the Good Shepherd complex which included an asylum for fallen women, industrial and preservative schools for poor children and St. Euphrasia's day school for children of the surrounding district. A public laundry provided some of the funds needed for the many people living here, which explains the lines and lines of washing. Cows are grazing on the river flats.
