Description: A view looking west from the town hall that merits comparison with the photos taken in the 1880s and 1955 from the same vantage point. The street in the foreground is Hood Street so only the backs of Hoddle Street buildings can be seen. A number of factories have been built but there are still many more houses at this date than there are in 1955. To the right is the Cromwell Street primary school built in 1915, and to the far left the Gipps Street Methodist Church.
