Description: Twenty-two children are lined up on the footpath outside a weatherboard house. Their ages range from about five to about ten. The girls wear pinafores and some have pantaloons showing beneath their skirts, while the boys wear jackets and trousers reaching just below the knee. Both boys and girls wear sturdy boots. The verandah of the house is built directly on the street line with a simple picket fence dividing it. On the verandah stands a woman wearing an enormous Bertha collar keeping a close eye on the children. The girl standing third from the right is Martha Heath, who was born in Collingwood in February 1875 and lived at 21 Turner Street. She received her 'Certificate of a Child being Sufficiently Educated' in October 1886. This photo is probably a school group but I cannot as yet suggest any name or location.
