Description: One of a series of photographs taken of the interior and grounds of the house at 12 North Terrace, Clifton Hill, which was built in 1883 for George David Langridge, M.L.A. and previously a Collingwood councillor. The house was later lived in by Edgar Wilkins, M.L.A., mayor of Collingwood in 1891 and 1897. The drawing room displays every aspect of late Victorian interior decoration. Swagged and tasselled velvet curtains hang at the windows, topped by decorative gilt pelmets, tables and stools are covered with plush cloths, the piano and small tables are laden with family photographs and there are three bell jars on the marble mantelpiece. Several chairs have elaborate antimacassars hanging over the back and floral shades decorate the gasolier.
