Description: Size: 212 x 283 mm A front view from Vere Street of the imposing bi-chrome brick building, its perfect symmetry emphasized by a soaring spire, the whole neatly bordered with a picket fence. Notice the typical street sign (Vere Street) attached to the street lamp. This school opened in 1886. By 1915 a new school was built in Cromwell St, and this building was renovated and became the Collingwood School of Domestic Economy. In 1936 the name was changed to Collingwood Girls Secondary School, and in 1968 it was re-named Collingwood Girls High School. Finally it became co-educational in 1969. This building was demolished in the 1970s and the school was incorporated into Collingwood Education Centre, now called Collingwood College.
