Description: Image held by Fitzroy Library. Looking South opposite No. 1 Church Street, North Fitzroy. This is not part of the Brooks Crescent Reclamation Area. As of 2009 this building still exists as part of Melbourne City Mission. Taken within the block Church Street-Rae Street- Nicholson Street. Targeted by Housing Commission, Victoria for broadscale demolition and construction of highrise apartment blocks. This was opposed by residents, both tenants and owners and factories. This campaign was a turning point in public housing policy and practice in Victoria.
