Description: Image held at Richmond Library. A posed photograph, originally published in the Richmond Guardian newspaper, of female fencers holding their foils upright against their faces. Fencing classes were held at the gymnasium behing the Richmond swimming pool. The caption beneath the image reads: 'Fencing is Recognised as Most Valuable Exercise in Acquiring Graceful Carriage and Keenness of Perception.
