Description: Image held at Richmond Library. The photograph shows two rows of standing boys behind a row of seated boys. The boy in the middle of the seated row is holding a sign which reads: 'Grades 4 & 5 1936'. The photograph appears to have been taken against one of the walls of St Ignatius Church. Catholic children in Richmond had been educated at the St James church school in Abinger St since 1850. In January 1876 the boys transferred to a new school in the Vaucluse. The girls transferred during the year. According to information accompanying the photograph some of the boys are: Billy Connoly, Joey Leitch, Augustus Keetcherer, Lance Myers, Ken Anthony, Leo Day, Pat Cassin.
