Description: Image held at Richmond Library. Photographed about 1913, a large number of boys are posed on the diving tower at the baths. When the Richmond Baths opened in 1897 they were the largest in Victoria and among the finest, and Richmond acquired a reputation as one of the swimming centres of Victoria. The main reason the Council built the baths was concern at the number of people who drowned in the river. Swimming was segregated. For further information refer to 'Copping it sweet'. The photograph was published in the City of Richmond Report of the Council, 1912-13.
