Description: Image held at Richmond Library. Three rows of young men are posed for the photograph on the river bank. Most of the them are wearing swimming costumes and two are holding dogs. There are three boys sitting on the very top of the bank.
Although Richmond Baths had opened in 1897, swimming was still popular in the river because it was free, unlike swimming at the Baths. According to information accompanying the image: 'Down by the Yarra in Richmond, a group of youths in swimming costumes pose for the camera. Many of the youths were about to head for W.W.1.'.
