Description: Image held by Richmond Library.
Photograph showing the exterior of the factory at 23 Goodwood St on Richmond Hill as it was during its peak years.
Pelaco was a well-known shirt manufacturer, pioneering production systems and improved working conditions. This building was purpose built, the factory moving there in 1922. Note the faces of a laughing 'blackfellow' painted on either side of the factory sign - these refer to the company's advertising campaign which featured an aboriginal man wearing nothing but a Pelaco shirt, saying 'Mine tinkit dey fit'.
