Description: Image held by Richmond Library. A large group of gentlemen are assembled on the bridge. The photograph is dated March the 31st, 1884, the official opening day of the bridge, so although the caption states that it shows the laying of the foundation stone, it seems more likely that the event is an opening ceremony. This is a relatively recent copy of the original nineteenth-century photograph, source unknown. For further information refer to Richmond Library local history file RFC 192.
